DESIGNER PROFILE
Cynthia Mak Raised in Hong Kong with an international upbringing, Cynthia was first exposed to arts through her studies in graphics design. Later, she decided to attend the Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design to pursue her interests in design. Starting afresh in a new field, she devoted her life to learning about fashion and garment construction. Having graduated from CSM with distinction, her strong final collection also garnered praises from Italian Vogue where she was selected as a designer to watch and included her in their list of “New Talents”. After working in Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood, Preen by Thornton, and Roksanda Illincic, she returned to her hometown and worked at various large scale luxury fashion retailers. However, her ambition remained in the line of fashion design and consequently established Cynthia & Xiao together with knitwear specialist Xiao Xiao in 2014. Xiao Xiao Born in Beijing, Xiao Xiao moved to the UK in 2002. During her earlier studies in fine arts and textiles in high school, she discovered her interest and talents in merging artwork with fashion. She then decided to further her studies at the Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design. After graduation, she decided to move to Mainland China to develop her career.
