22 FEBRUARY 2018 – For the first time, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) featuredfour leading Hong Kong design labelsat London Fashion Week,from 16-20 February. And on 16 February evening, the HKTDC organised the Fashion Hong Kong Fashion Presentation and Cocktail Reception at London’s Somerset House, which attracted more than 600 buyers, media representatives and fashion experts, fostering the exchangebetweenthe UK and Hong Kong fashion industry players.Several celebrities and fashionistas were among the attendees, including Mathew Anderson, CEO of British designer label Jenny Packham.
The Hong Kong fashion design line-up in London were: Yi Chan and Lary Cheung (Brand: HEAVEN PLEASE+), Vickie Au (Brand: HOUSE OF V), Dora Chu (Brand: MaisonVermillion) and Glori Tsui (Brand: METHODOLOGY). The 4 participating brands have their own unique character and the diverse mix has illustrated the wide variety of Hong Kong fashion.Local fashion bloggers as well as international fashion media attended the Fashion Hong Kong Fashion Presentation and Cocktail Reception, includingWWD, Business of Fashion and Wonderland.
Debut appearance at London Fashion Week
Fashion Hong Kong is a series of international promotions organised by the HKTDC to raise the global profile ofHong Kong fashion designers and labels. Since 2015, Fashion Hong Kong has been stagingworld-class runway shows at major international fashion events, including at New York Fashion Week, Copenhagen Fashion Week and Tokyo Fashion Week, toshowcaseHong Kong’s fashion design prowess.

The HKTDC brought four Hong Kong fashion brands to launch their Fall/Winter 2018 collections at London Fashion Week. On 16 February, the Fashion Hong Kong Fashion Presentation and Cocktail Reception wereheld in London’s Somerset House, attractingmore than 600buyers, media representatives and fashionistas. Fashion Hong Kong has partnered with several lifestyle brands to promote the Hong Kong fashion campaign during London Fashion Week. Creative photography brand Lomography invited Hong Kong photographer Max Chan, who was the photographer for theaward-winning Hong Kong movie “Mad World”, to do photo shooting for the fashion presentation, as well as providinginstant cameras and lenses for designers to capture and share fashion snapshots from the streets of London

The novel by a noted Hong Kong writer Liu Yichang, Wrong Numberis the inspiration behind the label’s A/W18 collection DăCuòLe Vol. II (English: Wrong Number), by re-mixing 50’s Western style with Hong Kong high-fashion style

With 15 years’ experience under her belt, Vickie Au is a talented designer with a strong background in the fashion industry. The head designer of HOUSE OF V previously worked for some of the most prestigious international and Hong Kong fashion labels, including Anteprima, Levi’s, Anagram, G2000, Blanc de Chine and Toppy Group. Being showcased in a plain white background, the label’s A/W18 collection, Unexpected/Habitual,which was inspired by an extract from the speech of renowned Polish-American architect Daniel Libeskindmade in 2009, showed the contrasts in details—Expressive vs Neutral、Complex vs Simple、Pointed vs Blunt

Brand:Maison Vermillion
Dora Chu graduated from Central Saint Martins and has worked for several renowned design studios, including Alexander McQueen, Jenny Packham and Vivienne Tam.Inspiration of the label’s Autumn/Winter 2018 Collection“The Greatest of Thee” came from the love affair between King Henry VIII of England and Anne Boleyn in the 15th century. MaisonVermillion was supported by the Hong Kong Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Co, Ltd which provided the models with thejewellery to make the total look more outstanding. In addition, Maison Vermillion alsopartnered with noted Chinese paper-cutting artist, Li Yunxia, to combine two delicate craftsmanship—Western lace-making and the traditional Chinese paper-cutting art—to create a one-of-a-kind, modern art piece

Brand:METHODOLOGY
Glori Tsui studied illustration at the Art Center Collegeof Design in Southern California. She pursued her interest in sustainable fashion design by obtaining a master’s degree in fashion design at Nottingham Trent University in the UK. The Autumn/Winter 2018 Collection “Plaid Block” celebrates the brand's signature silhouettes by contrast visualisation with plaid patterns, solid colours and layered textures
